It’s time to contemplate next steps.
It’s time to plan momentous endings.
It’s time to wrangle my office back into order.
It’s time to sink into that patient stack of books.
It’s time for the sun to caress my eyelids.
It’s time for savoring my coffee.
It’s time for rest.
It’s time for me.
It’s time.
I love the shape of your poem. It crescendoes as it grows and then gets quiet again. The line about caressing eyelids is great.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect. A to-do list, but in the shape of a poem, which is ever so much lovelier than a plain old to-do list. Are you on break this week? We still have one more week!
ReplyDeleteYes, it’s spring break for me. We only get one week these days, so that kids can be done before Memorial Day. I miss having two weeks. I think ending school the first week of June is plenty early!
DeleteIt’s a good thing book stacks are patient. This is a great format.
ReplyDeleteI like how this list poem goes from small to grandiose and back to small again. It really shows the way we make plans for our breaks. I can feel the swell and ebb and the growth of relaxation.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is so clearly savoring time...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time for savoring! I also loved the way this poem blends the tiny and the momentous.
ReplyDeleteNot quite time yet for me but I'm taking your list of ideas to heart! Not the wrangling the office thing though, we are heading across the continent so no office work for me!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the repetition in your poem. It shows A lot of feeling of looking ahead.
